At MB Designs Inc., we believe event materials have value long after an event ends.
Every year, conferences, trade shows, corporate events, campus events, fundraisers, festivals, and community gatherings generate temporary signs, banners, displays, and other materials that are often used for only a few hours or days before being discarded.
While these materials serve an important purpose during an event, many are sent to landfill despite still having significant value.
We saw an opportunity to rethink what happens after the event.
Rather than viewing retired event materials as waste, we believe they can become part of a larger story—one that combines sustainability, education, community impact, and meaningful reuse.
Our mission is to help organizations across Canada reduce event waste, embrace circular economy principles, and create lasting environmental and social impact through innovative upcycling and sustainability education programs.
Through Sustainable Event Education, Event Sign Upcycling, Event Banner Upcycling, and Circular Event Solutions, we help organizations discover practical alternatives to disposal while demonstrating environmental leadership and community responsibility.
Many organizations focus on recycling.
We focus on extending the life of materials through reuse, upcycling, education, and community impact.
Our approach goes beyond diverting materials from landfill. We work to transform retired event materials into products, educational tools, and resources that continue creating value long after an event has ended.

By keeping materials in circulation longer, organizations can reduce waste while creating positive outcomes for communities.
Education is an important part of creating lasting change.
Our Sustainable Event Education Workshops help employees, students, conference attendees, and community groups understand:
Through virtual and in-person workshops, participants gain practical knowledge and discover new ways to rethink event materials and event waste.
One of our most meaningful initiatives involves transforming retired event signs into functional clipboards through interactive workshops and upcycling programs.
These clipboards are donated to youth-serving organizations across Canada that support learning, personal development, mental health initiatives, and community programs.
To extend the impact even further, many donated clipboards provide access to our Life Skills Hub, a growing collection of free resources designed to support financial literacy, organization, goal setting, personal development, and life skills learning.
This creates a complete cycle of impact:
Event Materials
→ Upcycling
→ Education
→ Donation
→ Life Skills Resources
→ Community Impact
